The Sphere, the most anticipated new concert venue in decades, opened  on Sept. 29 in Las Vegas. The crowd was exuberant and excited as they enjoyed the sounds of the legendary band U2 christen the building in grand fashion. U2 will play 25 shows as a part of residency deal.  The debut of  MSG Sphere is of keen interest not only to fans of the city and the band, but also to shareholders of Sphere Entertainment, the arena’s owner.

Developed by Maddison Square Garden (MSG) Entertainment, Sphere started out as a project aimed at discovering how MSG could create the biggest show on earth that will push the boundaries of modern technologies and give viewers and immersive experience.  Most of the 360 feet tall and 516 feet wide area is dedicated to entertainment systems and huge screens. Space has also been allocated to house 23 VIP luxury suites. The MSG Sphere has a seating capacity of 17,500 but can hold up to 20,000 spectators. Even more astonishing is the outside of The Sphere. You can’t but notice The Sphere has it is already a tourist attraction just shortly after its opening. The MSG Sphere exterior covers an area of 580,000 square feet, all of which are covered with programmable lighting. Surely, one can imagine all the advertisements and sponsored content that will be displayed throughout Las Vegas on this exterior. MSG Sphere interior screen measures 19,000 by 13,500 pixels covering a space that is more than three football football fields. It is 100 times crisper and more detailed than the best world-class HD TVs in the market. This spherical digital indoor display plane covers about 160,000 square feet, making for a breathtakingly immersive show regardless of what is playing, from sporting events to films. The MSG Sphere will certainly take center stage next month when the F1 Grand Prix and all of its pomp and circumstance speeds its way through world-famous Las Vegas Strip and surrounding areas in the Resort Corridor.
